Pizza ormiańska w Zamościu!

February 9 – World Pizza Day

Every year on February 9, pizza lovers around the world celebrate this delicious dish. It’s the perfect occasion to enjoy exceptional flavors, discover new tastes, and share a meal with friends and family. Pizza is not just food – it’s a symbol of togetherness, friendship, and culinary joy.

The History of Pizza
– From Antiquity to Modern Times

The Origins of Pizza

Although pizza is mainly associated with Italy, its roots go much further back. In ancient times, people baked flatbreads with toppings. The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans created simple flatbreads with olive oil, herbs, and cheese. However, it was in Italy, specifically in Naples, that pizza in its modern form was born.

Pizza Margherita – The Birth of a Classic

In 1889, Raffaele Esposito, a Neapolitan pizzaiolo, created a pizza in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy. He decorated the dough with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil – ingredients representing the colors of the Italian flag. Thus, the iconic Pizza Margherita was born.

Italian Roots of Zamość
and Pizza at Ormiańskie Piwnice

Zamość, known as the “Padua of the North,” was designed by the Italian architect Bernardo Morando, giving it a unique Italian character. It’s no surprise that Italian cuisine, especially pizza, is so beloved here.
